Chronic Pain Vs. The Call of God on Your Life
Today, I recorded a podcast.
Today, while wearing two back braces, struggling to get dressed, and being driven to a dr.’s appointment by my mom, I recorded a podcast.
The podcast is titled, Chronic Pain Vs. Your Calling.
I had been meaning to record a podcast on chronic illness and pain for a very long time and just never did. But, right now, during the middle of a flair-up, I decided it was the right time.
In 2012, I began to have auto-immune issues. I was in excruciating pain that kept me lying in the fetal position and crying. I can’t even tell you how many trips I made to the ER that year but eventually, we realized I had a number of issues going on including Celiac Disease, Colon Spasms, and other intestinal issues.
It flairs up when I least expect it and it’s not fun.
Fast forward to 2018, while training in a self-defense class, I took a fall. Well, a hit and a fall in one which means it was pretty powerful. I blew out a disc in my back and could not walk hardly at all for 6 months. Eventually, all the treatments failed and I had surgery.
Six months later, I had to have another surgery.
Now, it is 2021 and I’ve been told I have the possibility of having two more. I have two more bulging discs and my Si joint has lost its mind. The pain is unreal.
I have amazing doctors and a super supportive family so we’re making it but, I know chronic pain. Believe me, I know it.
Chronic Pain is Real
I know acute pain that sends you to your knees and I know the chronic pain that you live with daily and that you tell no one about.
I say that to you today because I know what it feels like to lay in bed and think your entire life is gone. I know what it feels like to think your dreams are shattered. I know what it feels like to be woken up at night by pain and cry the rest of the night wondering how on earth you’re going to do this.
You Still Have a Calling
But, let me tell you this.
You have a call on your life.
It doesn’t matter if you’re stuck in bed, at the Dr’s office all day, or whatever the case might be, you have a call. And, as long as you are breathing, you can fulfill that call.
The Enemy Wants Your Calling
Listen, the enemy is trying to take your calling right now. He’s trying to hit you up with so much depression that you just give up. He’s coming for you.
BUT, the voice of God is louder than the voice of the enemy. You still have a call no matter what your condition. You still have hope. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that we have a hope and a future.
Say it Out Loud
Believe that. Claim it. Say it. Know it.
When the sadness hits, when the negative thoughts hit, when the temptation to just say forget it hits-remember who called you.
God, who knew all of this before it happened, has a purpose for your life. My friend, do not give up.
As long as you are breathing, fulfill your call.
As for me, I will teach from my bed. I will record podcasts while standing up in braces and holding on to rails, I will go on. It won’t be easy. It will hurt. But I believe Christ has a plan for me and you know what? He does for you too.
