I’m Gonna Live Again

“Open the grave, I’m coming out. I’m gonna live, gonna live again”

You’ll find those lyrics in the new Rattle song from Elevation Worship, if you haven’t heard it, check it out here. I had been singing the song for a little while and out of nowhere the lyrics hit me straight in the face and when it hit me, I realized, I had been living in the grave holding on to the dead for far too long.

Have you ever felt dead? Your marriage was dead? Your job was dead? Your spirit was dead? Or maybe someone hurt you years ago and the pain still clings to you?

Smell of Death

Sometimes you feel that way and don’t even realize it, it’s like you get used to the smell of death.

The smell of dreams that died long ago, of money that never came, of relationships that broke apart, death is all around us and if we are not careful, we can get used to it real quick.

One day I was singing that song and suddenly it felt like God was screaming those words to my heart, “LIVE! Hear the Word of the Lord, LIVE!”

It hit me at that moment that I was still living in the grave. I was surrounded by all the pain and hurt and God was calling me out, out into my purpose. He was telling me to come out, just like he told Lazarus to come out, just like he told the paralyzed man to get up-he was telling me it’s time.

Come out of the hurt, come out of the pain, come out of all the things the enemy threw at me to bury me in the grave, and realize I serve a resurrection God. I might have felt like I died from those things but the God who raised Christ from the dead lives inside of me and he is raising me to life today!

“So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.  I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” Ezekial 37:7-9

Six Feet Under

This is a much bigger concept than just “shaking it off” or “moving on.” Because let’s be honest, there are things you never “move on” from, they changed your life, they altered your existence and they never quite go away. However, the effect of those things on you, on your spirit, certainly can change for the better.

It takes acknowledging that you are living six feet under. It takes realizing that you let something consume you, something get a hold on you. It takes realizing it’s all gone too far and you’re deep in but you want out.

It takes a full understanding of who God is and that God is standing at your grave right now, telling you to come out.

It takes the courage to get up on your feet and move.

Get it through your head now, we worship a resurrection God. He breathes life into dead things and he’s standing at the grave waiting to breathe life into you. He’s waiting. It’s time.

Don’t waste another moment. Don’t live in the grave of pain the enemy dug out for you-it’s time to come out!
