About two years ago I met with a woman who was telling me that my priorities were all out of whack. She was right. Unfortunately, the nature of this business requires a 7 day a week commitment. That means, it is very difficult to take any “me” time or to spend a single night without a laptop nearby.
I did take what she had to say very seriously thought and started making adjustments a little at a time. I’ve come to realize over these last few months that I did not make enough adjustments. Of course, it took a forced 6 month hiatus for me to realize that.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34
Where is your heart? You can’t focus on two things at once, no matter how good your multi-tasking skills might be.
And, to be honest, I have found that if I do not keep my priorities in line, God will adjust things as needed to put them back in order. And believe me, it’s easier to just keep them in line in the first place.
Everything will fall into its right place if you keep God first.
I’m extremely conscious of this right now, if you see me take some time off here and there from posting, it is for that reason. I could work myself to death very easily, I have a natural bend in that way. But, this time around, I’m putting up boundaries, taking it slow and making sure God is first.
Take some time and figure out where you spend all of your time, is it with God? Is it at work? Is it on Facebook? Seriously. It might be time to readjust.
