A few years ago I attended a women’s convention, the speaker was a mother of 3 very young boys and she mentioned how hard it was to be able to sit down and read her Bible. She was honest and real, which I appreciated as we have all been there. Then, she brought up a life changing solution, she suggested choosing just one verse per day and meditating, praying and speaking that verse all day long.
She said she would choose her verses for the week, write them down on cards then each day, she would grab one card and start praying and saying that verse. I think that is a fabulous idea. You’ll be able to memorize scripture easily and you’ll likely get more out of the one scripture you focus on than then the 3 chapters you read in a hurry.
Disclaimer: I’m not saying this is a substitution for reading the entire Bible, I’m saying for a season this might help you during those moments of chasing children and just trying to steal one moment for yourself. I read the Bible and I can read chapters at a time with no issues, I have a degree in Biblical Studies and I’m weird like that. But, I can tell you that having my boys at home, running 3 websites and just trying to survive as a single mom, I do have days when I go to read my Bible and end up asleep instead. I’m also a huge fan of having scripture cards in my pocket and focuses on scripture throughout the day.
SO…here it goes…someone suggested to me that I post my one scripture per day on Peace, Love & Sarah and I think that’s a good idea. After all, we’re in this together. I’m thinking it might help you to know my scripture of the day and hopefully, they might be yours as well.
Today’s verse is rather fitting in my opinion with what has gone on in my life:
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment, You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17
I’ve been quoting this verse out loud every single day for nearly a year now simply because I’ve had quite a few tongues “rise against me in judgement” and I’m a firm believer in letting God fight my battles and taking the high road. However, that is much easier said than done.
I’ve also had many weapons formed against me this past year in the form of legal drama, sickness, financial hardships, etc. But, I know God’s promises are true regardless of what it looks like around me (or you).
As you go through the day today, say this verse out loud towards your hardships, “No weapon (fill in with sickness, gossip, lawsuits, etc) formed against me will prosper!”
I’m sure there were days when I looked like a crazy person, crying in my house screaming some of these at the top of my lungs but the Lord is our deliverer and he is faithful. As difficult as it is and and horrible as some circumstances are at times, the Lord is with you in the struggle.
Speak against the weapons coming against you today, don’t let them steal your peace and joy. Take heart for you are also learning in the midst of the battle!
