There are some battles not worth fighting, then there are those battles that mean the world. Over the last two years I have found myself in and out of many battles. Through prayer, discernment and godly counsel, I have had to determine which battles are worth the fight and which are not.
I have made mistakes, I have fallen and got back up only to fall again. Fighting for what is right or what God has called you to do is no easy thing. David struck down Goliath with a stone and a sling but he had spent YEARS fighting lions and other animals in the wild just learning how to throw that stone (1 Samuel 17:34).
Sometimes we forget that. We forget the years of endurance, the years of training in the wilderness just to be prepared for what is to come. No solider goes to war without training, the same is true for us in our daily lives. You might be in the training process right now or you might be in the fight but if you’re breathing, then you’re likely in one or the other.
Looking back from this point of view in my own life, I can see the years of training. I know I’m in the battle, the funny thing is, I think this particular battle can only be won through peace. I get that it sounds weird but the anger mode didn’t get me anywhere, I had to get to the place of giving the battle to God, being ready to go when he says go, but to walk the road of peace.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m fighting to the finish, I’m just not fighting with stones and slings that you can see, I’m fighting with stones and slings in the unseen. It’s a different kind of battle, but as hard as it might be, at least I do know the outcome.
