Day 26: 10 Scriptures for Peace

Conquering Fear through Peace

Several weeks ago, I wrote a post called, “Conquering Fear with Peace.” That post is all about the battle I have with fear and how I learned to overcome by speaking the word of God out loud and writing scriptures on 3×5 cards. When I feel fear, I can pull those 3×5 cards out of my pocket and start speaking the word of God over my circumstances.

Sound strange?

Well, God created the entire universe with simply his word, right? Then, he gave us his word. That same creative force used to create the universe from absolutely nothing was given to you and I. And, guess what? That same word still has God’s creative force to create something out of completely nothing in your own life. It’s the force that removes doubt and casts away fear and it’s the force that brings us peace.

Not trying to sound like another Star Wars installment, only trying to drive home the point that God’s word is very important and if you want to see peace in your life, speaking God’s word over life is key.

Grab some 3×5 cards and write out the verses below, when storms arise and strife comes into your life, pull out your cards and start talking. Speak these verses over your circumstances and watch how God’s word changes everything.

10 Scriptures for Peace  (NIV)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast; because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment, You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord. Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philipians 4:6-7

Speak the verses above with authority over your circumstances, in fact, make it personal. For example, when I say Isaiah 54:17 out loud it goes something like this, “No sickness, rumors, lies or poverty formed against me will prosper!” These verses are promises made to you, they are for you right now in your circumstances just as they are for me.

Take it on as a challenge, change up your routine and when fear, doubt or strife hit you, hit back with the word of God.
