Day 12: Facing the Giant

30 Days to Peace: How to Minimize Strife & Enjoy Your Life

If you want to follow along in my 30 day challenge be sure to check out the 30 Days to Peace: How to Minimize Strife & Enjoy Your Life.

This whole series has been focused on maintaining peace and minimizing strife. However, there are times when you have to face the giant in front of you.

How do you maintain peace while facing a giant? It’s not easy. However, I think the biggest part of it is realizing who is on your side. You remember the story of David and Goliath right? The boy had a stone and a sling and took on a giant that terrified an entire army. I can tell you right now, I feel like that in my own life.

Why wasn’t David afraid? Because he knew who was on his side.

“David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:45-47

Well that’s intense.

You know what else the bible says? It says David ran towards the giant. What the what?

“David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.” 1 Samuel 17:48

David did not sit back and wait for the giant to come after him, he did not wait to be taunted or even give one second to the natural fear that could have overtaken him. David, knowing full well who was on his side, took off running towards the giant.

There are times in life when we cannot back down. Period. I’m in one of those times right now, running towards a giant with simply a stone and a sling. I am coming against lies, manipulation, false accusations and sickness with the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel. I refuse to back down, I refuse to hide and fear, I will not spend my days complaining about my problems when God is on my side.

I dare you to do as David did and speak out loud to whatever is coming against you. The God who gave David strength and stood behind him and in front of him as he took down the giant lives inside of you and me. We got this. Game on.
