Imagine with me for a minute that you are a solider, you’ve gone through training and you are getting ready to go to war. You’ve mentally prepared yourself for whatever may come and you are ready to take on the enemy. The catch? You don’t know who the enemy is. (Yes, I just ended that paragraph with a preposition for dramatic effect).
Can you imagine how dangerous it would be to go to war and have no clue who your enemy is? It could be the person sitting right next to you, it could be anyone.
As believers, we are in a war, we have waged a war against the enemy, only unfortunately, many of us can’t recognize the enemy even when he is looking at us square in the face.
Day 3: Know Your Enemy
In our circumstances and situations, it is very easy to see people as the enemy. This is how people become cynical and struggle with trusting other people. I’m certainly not saying that we need to be associated with the wrong people, I’m simply saying we need to recognize the force behind them.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
What does this mean? It means we need to be praying against the force coming against us. People are not the enemy, however, people can certainly be used by the enemy.
The challenge for today is to recognize your enemy. If situations or circumstances present themselves throughout the day today, remind yourself, that you (as a believer) have waged a war against the enemy and he’s fighting back strong against you. Pray for the power of the enemy to cease in the life of the person or situation you are dealing with and pray that God’s power be released in the midst of your circumstances.
Recognizing the true enemy will help keep hate out of your heart and help you heal and forgive.
Remember, our goal is to minimize strife and enjoy life so, speak peace over your situation, choose to walk in peace daily and know your enemy.

Posted at 03:28h, 06 FebruaryThanks so much for the perspective. I am a woman, left for basic basic training when I was 30. I was trained, getting prepared for if I should ever have to face the enemy but I can’t believe I didn’t look at it this way since I have wore the boots. Thank again
